How To Make Vegetable Masala Idli In Microwave

Idli or idly is a type of savory rice cake, originating from the Indian subcontinent, popular as breakfast foods throughout India and northern Sri Lanka. The cakes are made by steaming a batter consisting of fermented black lentils (de-husked) and rice. The fermentation process breaks down the starches so that they are more readily metabolized by the body.



  • 1 cup Rava
  • 1 cup Curd
  • 2 green Chillies
  • 1 Onion (chopped)
  • 1 cup boiled Peas
  • Few coriander leaves
  • 1 Carrot (chopped)
  • ½ cup Water
  • 1 tsp. Fruit salt
  • Salt to taste

  1. In a bowl mix rava, curd, vegetables, salt together and let it stand for at least 20 mins.
  2. Add fruit salt and mix well. Place the masala idli batter in the microwave safe idli stand and microwave for 4 mins. at 100% power.
  3. Garnish it with coriander leaves. Serve it with tomato sauce & green chutney.
