How To Make Rasam In Microwave

Rasamchaarusaaru or Kabir is a South Indian soup, traditionally prepared using tamarind juice as a base, with the addition of tomato, chili pepperpeppercumin and other spices as seasonings. Steamed lentils can be added along with any preferred vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 5 Tomatoes
  • 5 cups Water
  • 6 Garlic Cloves
  • 5-6 Peppercorn
  • ½ cup Tamarind juice
  • 1 tbsp. Oil
  • ½ tsp. Mustard seeds
  • 4 whole Red Chillies
  • Few curry leaves.
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Place tomatoes, garlic, water, peppercorn in a microwave safe dish & microwave at 100% power for 5 mins.
  2. Blend and strain it.
  3. Add tamarind juice.
  4. In another microwave safe bowl, for baghar put oil, mustard seeds, whole red chili, curry leaves & microwave for 2 mins. at 100% power.
  5. Add this baghar to tomato and tamarind juice. Microwave for 5 mins. at 100% power.
  6. Garnish with coriander. Stir well before serving. Serve hot.
